Compatible applications

Where R448A is commonly used

R448A may be used to service compatible low-temperature and medium-temperature refrigeration equipment designed for R448A operating requirements. It should only be used when the equipment label identifies R448A as the required refrigerant.

01 Commercial Refrigeration

Reach-in coolers, walk-in boxes, refrigerated cases and food storage systems.

02 Supermarket Systems

Low-temperature and medium-temperature refrigeration equipment used in retail cooling.

03 Retrofit Service Work

Properly evaluated systems replacing R404A, R507, or R22 in compatible applications.

Professional service

Made for certified technicians

R448A service must be performed by an appropriately certified technician using approved recovery, charging, leak-check and refrigeration service procedures.

Follow the cylinder label, current safety data sheet, equipment manufacturer instructions and all applicable federal, state and local requirements.

  • Verify R448A on the equipment nameplate before use
  • Section 608 certification is required for stationary equipment
  • Recover refrigerant—never knowingly vent refrigerant
  • Never mix R448A with another refrigerant

R448A Product FAQs

Clear answers about R448A compatibility, EPA certification, shipping, cylinder weight, refrigeration service, storage and delivery concerns.

01 Is this R448A refrigerant factory sealed?

Yes. This R448A refrigerant is supplied in a factory-sealed service cylinder. The original seal should remain intact until the cylinder is opened by a trained technician for approved service use.

02 How do I know if R448A is compatible with my system?

Check the equipment nameplate, service manual and manufacturer specifications. Use R448A only when the commercial refrigeration equipment is specifically identified for R448A operating requirements.

R448A is an HFO/HFC blend commonly used for compatible low-temperature and medium-temperature refrigeration systems. Do not mix it with another refrigerant or treat it as a universal substitute.
03 Do I need EPA certification to purchase R448A?

R448A for stationary air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment is subject to EPA Section 608 sales restrictions. Eligible buyers generally include Section 608-certified technicians, businesses that employ a properly certified technician, and qualified resellers.

Refrivanta may request certification, employer authorization or resale documentation before processing an order.

04 Is R448A used for low-temperature refrigeration?

Yes, R448A is commonly used in compatible low-temperature and medium-temperature commercial refrigeration equipment such as freezers, cold rooms, refrigerated cases and food-service cooling systems.

Always confirm the equipment label and service documentation before purchasing. Some applications may reference R448A as a replacement option for R404A, R507A, or R22, but any replacement or retrofit work must be evaluated by a qualified technician.

05 How quickly will my R448A order ship?

Orders are normally processed within one business day. Standard delivery is generally estimated at 2–5 business days after carrier pickup. Weekend and public-holiday orders are processed on the next business day.

Multiple cylinders may ship separately. Delivery estimates can be affected by carrier routing, weather, hazardous-material requirements and address restrictions.

06 Why does the shipping label show a different weight?

A carrier label may display estimated, preset, dimensional or billing weight. This can differ from the product’s 24 lb / 10.9 kg refrigerant net weight because the cylinder and shipping packaging add weight.

If you have a concern after delivery, keep the cylinder unopened and contact us with your order number and clear photos of the cylinder and shipping label.

07 How should I store and handle an R448A cylinder?

Follow the cylinder label and current safety data sheet. Keep the cylinder upright, secured and in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and ignition sources.

R448A is pressurized and can create serious exposure hazards. Handling and system service should be performed by a trained, appropriately certified technician using suitable tools and personal protective equipment. Never intentionally vent refrigerant.

08 What should I do if the cylinder is damaged, leaking or missing?

Do not connect, use or attempt to repair a cylinder that appears damaged, punctured or leaking. Keep people away, avoid heat and ignition sources, and contact local emergency services if there is an immediate hazard.

For visible shipping damage, contact Refrivanta when safe with your order number and clear photos. If tracking shows delivered but the shipment is missing, check the delivery photo, entrances, garage, front desk, mailroom and nearby properties before contacting us.

Email support@refrivanta.com with the order and tracking numbers, or call +1 (825) 360-9654.
